Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone was happy after their 2-1 win against Borussia Dortmund.

Samuel Lino and Rodrigo de Paul had Atleti 2-0 ahead before Sebastien Haller scored late on, with the Champions League quarterfinal first-leg finishing 2-1 to the hosts.

Simeone said: "I leave with the feeling of having won the first game, which is very important. We played a very good game, 70 minutes with an important pace and control of the game. We had the situation of Griezmann and Lino with 2-0 and then they could have also tied, because they have the crossbar at the end.

"In that scenario we were fortunate not to get a draw. Given what we have seen in these quarters, it is not easy to win in the Champions League. We know that we are going to a field where we have to suffer, fresh people were brought in with the changes, people who are overflowing, very tall players... but we are going to have spaces and we have fast people.

"When I win I am happy. It gave me a good feeling, when the team plays the way it played I feel happy, we had not played and shared for days, we were not clear about what could happen and I repeat that it was very good pressure, we forced the rival team not to have scoring chances from the game and we will go to their field knowing what we are going to find, a strong team, with people to attack, we will have to suffer and take advantage of the spaces."
