Atletico Madrid coach Simeone welcomes Lemar training return

Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone says Thomas Lemar has returned to training.

The France winger has struggled with injury this season, but is now back on the training pitch.

Simeone, ahead of facing Girona this weekend, said: "His goal is to help us as much as he can and as soon as possible, in relation to how he feels in training.

"This week he started working with us in the small groups, he seems eager, with enthusiasm, in search of what he lacks to be able to join us. When he is there, we will put him with the group."

On Girona, he added: "At first we think of ourselves. We face a rival who is having an extraordinary season, with very good numbers away from home. They play well, they are brave, with a very defined style that they will surely not change because of Mchel's characteristics.

"They are convinced of what they do. We will have to take the game to where we believe we can do damage."
