Sardar Azmoun is virtually a new Roma player. He touched down in Italy Thursday night and is handling the formalities. The Giallorossi are finally on the verge of adding a new offensive weapon, but he won’t be the only one.
According to Corriere dello Sport, the marksman transfers on loan with a €12/13M option to buy from Bayer Leverkusen. The capital side wanted him in the past while he was at Zenit. They are getting him for cheap as he didn’t have a great season in the Bundesliga.
Azmoun had a chat with José Mourinho before accepting the transfer to Roma. Both he and the club had other options. The Iranian international might skip the AFC Asian Cup, which lasts for a month from mid-January on.
Things are starting to move in the right direction for the Giallorossi also in their bid to sign Romelu Lukaku. Per The Daily Telegraph, he’s tired of waiting for Juventus, which took too long, and signed off on transferring to the Italian capital. Chelsea have changed their mind about a new loan. Per Gianluca Di Marzio, their officials will fly to London on Friday night. The initial fee could be €10M, Tuttomercatoweb relays.
José Mourinho: “Lukaku deal? The club told me that we will sign one more striker after Serdar Azmoun and that makes me happy”. #ASRoma
“It’s difficult for me to comment now on Azmoun as he hasn’t signed yet, imagine on Lukaku who’s Chelsea player…”. pic.twitter.com/AtR2G4FAwq
