The physical confrontation began after a clumsy challenge by Balotelli on Scott Sinclair, consequently Macini told the Italian off and he reacted badly. Mancini was taking part in the match when the incident happened. According to Manchester Evening News correspondent, Mike Keegan, a witness reported: “Mancini looked like he tried to throw him on the floor but couldn’t get him down. “The coaches ran in to separate them but Mancini was having none of it and kept trying to break free and have a go at him again.” The witness also added that there did not look like any malice in the challenge but it was wet.
