Barcelona are looking far and wide at all of their options for their two priority positions this summer, a pivot in midfield, and a left winger. The latest name to be linked to the Blaugrana is Udinese midfielder Lazar Samardzic.

Samardzic was scouted by Barcelona as a 16-year-old while at Hertha Berlin coming through the ranks, before he moved to RB Leipzig in 2020. Three summers ago he moved to Udinese in Serie A, where he has established himself playing as a deeper midfielder. The 22-year-old has started 19 of their 29 games so far in Serie A, providing three goals and two assists.

Napoli and Inter are looking to sign Samardzic say Sport, and he has a release clause of €35m, but Barcelona are following him too, with a view to making a move for a midfielder this summer.

Sporting Director Deco is spreading his net far and wide to find an answer for Barcelona in midfield, often being forced to use Ilkay Gundogan deeper this season, but their budget will not stretch particularly far this summer. At any rate, Samardzic is not the exact profile that Barcelona prefer this summer.
