Barcelona will consider an exit for 25-year-old goalkeeper Inaki Pena this summer, if he decides it is time for a new challenge. Pena has played 17 times for the Blaugrana this season, with mixed reviews.

After Marc-Andre ter Stegen injured his back in November, Pena took over, and was crucial in Barcelona making it through the group stages in top spot, but his performance against Real Madrid in the Spanish Supercup, as well as one or two other blunders, have called into question his performances.

Pena had offers last summer to leave Barcelona, as per MD, but decided to remain. If he is keen to leave this summer, they will consider offers for him. They have not yet decided whether they would sign a replacement, or trust the academy. Any replacement would have to arrive on a cheap deal, and otherwise 20-year-old Ander Astralaga would become their number two, and 18-year-old Diego Kochen would become third choice.

As Barcelona scrimp and save this summer, Pena’s sale seems an obvious choice under the right conditions. His contract expires in two seasons time, meaning that they should either consider a sale or an extension, and it looks as if the former will be more financially beneficial, without causing much damage to the first team, depending on ter Stegen’s fitness.
