Manchester United struck gold back in 2020 when they brought in Portuguese midfielder Bruno Fernandes . The Red Devils acquired the Sporting CP midfielder for a fee of €55 million, which was the second highest for a Portuguese player leaving the league.

Then 4 years and over 3 seasons later, Fernandes is now one of the most important players in the squad. His importance is solidified day after day as the No.8 proves his worth through crucial goals.

Following the take-over by Sir Jim Ratcliffe and managerial turmoil since his arrival, fans received good news when the midfielder announced his desire to stay with the club. Despite only winning the Carabao Cup in his four-year tenure, his performances have earned him the title of club captain. As INEOS (the new management) plan to bring order and set up a ‘competitive’ squad, Fernandes has pledged allegiance to the project.

I want to stay at United and be part of a project. I have already had a meeting with the new owners. They want to meet with players and I have done so individually. Bruno Fernandes told A Bola

The Manchester United captain’s importance to the squad is evident in his numbers, with the midfielder racking up an impressive 48 goals and 39 assists since his debut in 2020.
