Lucas Bergvall has explained his decision to join Tottenham last week.

The midfielder will move to Spurs from Djurgarden at the end of the season.

Bergvall committed to Tottenham just 48 hours after visiting Barcelona, he told Aftonbladet: "It wasn't easy to say no to Barcelona, it took me a long time to decide, but I think I made the right choice.

They are both two incredible clubs and when I had to choose I felt sick to my stomach, it was a very difficult decision to make, they both had a 50% chance of being chosen, but in the end I felt Tottenham was the right step to take. It was a visceral feeling.

"I read many things in the media, many of which were not true, so this period was difficult, but I tried not to think about it too much and focus on the present."

Bergvall then explained that he spoke with his fellow Swede Dejan Kulusevski, of Tottenham, before choosing the London club.

"We talked a bit in general, about how how the club works, how you train, what the days are like, etc. But he didn't give me any persuasive speech to convince me, he simply told me that the club was fantastic and that's something I noticed when I arrived.

"I received an incredible welcome, very familiar. And I spoke with Dejan for 5-10 minutes that time, but I already knew him since we both grew up in Brommapojkarna and that I had met him in 2020 when I had a trial with Juventus."
