Brendan Rodgers has said that he is pleased with Celtic’s performance level as they enter the post-split phase of the Premiership with a win over St Mirren. Three second-half goals from Reo Hatate, Kyogo and Adam Idah saw Celtic go four points clear ahead of Rangers, who have to play Ross County and Dundee on Wednesday.

Speaking after the game, the Irishman said he was excited as the club entered the final stage of the season with five league games remaining.

“It’s in our hands. This is where Celtic comes alive, as a club and as a team.

“Five games to go, Hampden semi-final next weekend, this is the part of the season I am very excited about.

“There is still a long way to go but we are in a fantastic position.

“I’m really, really pleased that we’ve found this level at this stage of the season.”

After Hibs conceded late at Motherwell, the game ended in a draw meaning that Dundee’s draw at Pittodrie was enough to seal the Top Six for Tony Docherty’s side. This means that the split fixtures will be finalised this week, allowing fans to see what the run-in would look like.

Next weekend, Celtic travel to Hampden to face Aberdeen as they look to secure their place in the Scottish Cup Final on May 25th.
