Amy Gallacher has been nominated for the PFA Scotland SWPL1 Player of the Year award after a fantastic campaign so far with Celtic…

This season, she has scored 22 goals and has 18 assists in the Scottish Women’s Premier League. She tops the chart for assists and is in second place for goals scored, showing how prolific she has been throughout the year. She earned herself a contract extension earlier this month and her contributions to the team are being further recognised with this well-deserved nomination.

Also up for the award are theRangers players Rachel Rowe and Kirsty Maclean, as well as Jorian Baucom from Hibs.

Speaking to Celtic TV, Amy Gallacher said: “It’s a great feeling, especially being nominated by other players in the league, so I’m very happy. A lot of players in the league have had great seasons, a lot of my teammates as well, so I’ve got to thank them as well for being nominated.

“I love scoring goals and creating goals, so I’ve just tried to get as many as I can throughout the season and hopefully, I can get a few more.

“I think consistency has been the biggest thing for me this season. I’ve been pretty consistent I think but we’ve got five massive games left so we just need to keep building and keep showing it.

“I think [it’ll be easy to put the Women’s Scottish Cup semi-final defeat behind us]. It was a tough game, we let ourselves down, but we’ve got two quick games coming up and I think we need to just put ourselves in a better light and hopefully win them.

“We’ll just focus on Wednesday [against Glasgow City]first, focus on getting a good performance but then getting the three points for the fans and for ourselves will hopefully put us in a good position for the game [against theRangers]on Monday.”
