AC Milan are continuing their work to try and get an U23 team registered in Serie A for next season and they plan to invest in a new stadium, a report claims.

According to Calcio e Finanza, Milan are ready to pounce if a vacancy pops up among the 60 slots across the three groups within Serie C and they would register a second team, joining Juventus and Atalanta who already have one.

While waiting to understand if there will be the conditions to start as early as 2024-25, it must be noted that rumours are suggesting Ascoli are having some difficulties in registering for the league and they could thus make way.

In the meantime, the club have chosen the stadium it will host the Under 23 home matches: it is the ‘Felice Chinetti’ stadium in Solbiate Arno (province of Varese), the home of Solbiatese who play in the Eccellenza (tier below Serie C).

Milan have reached an agreement with Solbiatese – on the basis of over €700,000 – as an investment for the ‘restyling’ of the stadium, essential to bring it up to standard for the Serie C matches.

Calcio e Finanza add that the works will concern different parts of the stadium. They range from the complete renovation of the pitch to the benches, through to the seats of the facility.

A new press gallery will be built and LEDs will be installed to bring the lighting system that is up to standard for Serie C.
