Chelsea are just half an hour away from kicking off against Arsenal, but transfer news never sleeps.

Just as the hype around our last signing reaches a peak, with Romelu Lukaku about to start his first game for Chelsea since returning, Fabrizio Romano has dropped another piece of news.

He claims the Blues are in “direct contact” with Seville for Jules Kounde, the superb central defender who looks like a perfect fit on the right of a back three.

Fans are a little worried this may be a “progress stopper” for academy kids like Trevoh Chalobah, but there’s no denying we would add some serious class to this team with a signing like the France international.

There is now “direct contact” between the clubs, with Seville not looking to sell late in the window – so the conclusion could be reached in the next few days.

What happens next, nobody knows – but Fabrizio Romano will certainly pretend that he knew before everyone else.
