Paris Saint-Germain might be aiming to replace Kylian Mbappé’s production this summer. The Frenchman will reportedly leave the capital club when his contract expires in June. One of the targets linked to the Parisians is Napoli goal scorer Victor Osimhen.

Transfer window specialist Fabrizio Romano recently revealed in his latest CaughtOffside column about the ongoing Osimhen saga, with PSG and Chelsea still in the mix. Romano also highlighted an intriguing issue, adding to the suspense surrounding Osimhen’s potential move.

Sky Sport’s Luca Marchetti also sees the Osimhen file coming down to Chelsea and PSG since not many clubs can pay the €120 million release clause that Napoli demands.

“In my opinion, it’s unlikely that Osimhen will stay at Napoli, but I don’t rule it out,” Marchetti said on Radio Marte (h/t Spazio Napoli). “It’s improbable mainly due to salary considerations. I imagine there are bound to be teams interested in the player because there aren’t many top strikers available, and the Nigerian has proven himself capable even in the most important competitions. His value depends on negotiation tactics. If De Laurentiis refuses to go below the famous €120 million, he really risks holding onto him.

“If a club is genuinely interested in signing Osimhen and knows that Napoli can hardly afford a €10 million salary, would they offer €110 or €120 million? That’s why negotiation tactics are crucial. I believe Osimhen’s current value is around €100 million; there are few teams that can afford him, but these teams may be in need of a striker. I’m talking about Chelsea, PSG, and there might be a surprise contender.”

Chelsea must consider Osimhen’s salary demands while adhering to FFP regulations. Despite the complexities, the Premier League club remains keenly interested in Osimhen.

As for PSG, sporting advisor Luis Campos did bring the 25-year-old to LOSC Lille, but their strategy after signing Randal Kolo Muani and Goncalo Ramos last summer remains uncertain.
