Chelsea had to play without Cole Palmer, Malo Gusto and Ben Chilwell, who were added to their lengthy injury list after the defeat against Manchester City. However, the final result was still unacceptable as Pochettino’s men were dominated by their opponents throughout the second period.

Rumours about a potential sacking have intensified in recent weeks, with some reports even suggesting the Blues are actively searching for a new boss. However, the 52-year-old might still have a chance to avoid a sacking after his disappointing debut campaign at Stamford Bridge.

According to the Daily Telegraph, Chelsea’s board is yet to make a final decision on Pochettino’s future. However, the manager still has the backing of a few board members, as there’s still no consensus to fire him this summer.

The Blues are still in the race to secure a European spot next season, something that could be decisive for his future. Renowned journalist Matt Law believes that the board has recognised that keeping the current manager would give the club “much-needed stability” after two years of constant change.

Reports about Pochettino’s possible sacking have been circulating around throughout the current campaign. However, finding a replacement for him at this stage seems to be more challenging than before.

A number of top clubs, including Bayern Munich, Liverpool, and possibly Manchester United, are actively scanning the market for managers. The likes of Ruben Amorim and Roberto De Zerbi, both linked with Chelsea before, are in high demand as interested clubs hope to sign their next managers before the summer transfer window.
