Lazio’s interested in Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi but his non-EU status may block a deal.

As reported by Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport (via LazioNews24) earlier today, the Biancocelesti are keen on the 20-year-old English winger, who coach Maurizio Sarri knows well from their time together in London a few years ago.

Chelsea are open to sending Hudson-Odoi out on loan with no obligation to buy needed, making a move to Lazio much more likely, considering the Biancocelesti’s restricted financial capabilities this summer.

One of the issues, however, is that the 20-year-old Englishman would occupy a non-EU player slot in the squad.

These two spots are currently filled by Serbian defender Dimitrije Kamenovic and Brazilian winger Felipe Anderson, meaning the young Serb would have to be sent away to make space.

Kamenovic did not particularly impress Sarri in the pre-season training camp in Auronzo di Cadore and so he could leave on loan, but Lazio would still need to resolve their liquidity ratio issues before closing out any deals.
