Conceiçao Ahead of Conte and Fonseca in Milan Search

The agent of Sergio Conceiçao, Jorge Mendes, is nudging him toward Milan, but the Rossoneri will have to wait to know whether the gaffer will leave Porto. A recent summit with new team president Andrés Villas-Boas didn’t move the needle.

According to TuttoSport, the former Lazio midfielder is the frontrunner but the officials don’t completely agree on any of the candidates that have emerged so far. Paulo Fonseca is losing consensus. Thiago Motta would be a more unanimous choice, but Juventus moved a lot earlier.

Per Il Giornale, Milan favor Conceiçao over Antonio Conte. The latter, on top of the obstacles related to this contract and transfer market requests, isn’t seen as a team player. He wouldn’t be a great match, like Paolo Maldini, in the hierarchy’s mind.

The Porto gaffer spoke up during a recent presser (via Calciomercato).

“The president’s visit didn’t change much. It was a simple chat between him, his employees, and the players. His speech was filled with ambition. It’s not yet the time to take stock. Otherwise, we’d have to consider everything that happened in my seven years here, like the pandemic, the Financial Fair Play problems, and the elections.”

“There’s nothing to clarify about my renewal. It’s my third one. I think we navigated the economic problems well in the last three seasons trophy-wise. All three presidential candidates believed I should stay a year ago. I already said that I’m not clinging to this job, and I no longer want to talk about it.”
