The present offers few, if any clues, as to what lies in Cristiano Ronaldo‘s future. The Portuguese soccer superstar is the subject of the European offseason’s most closely watched transfer saga. He remains tight-lipped about his current status and even sent mixed messages to a group of schoolchildren in Singapore, according to Sky Sports. “I miss English football,” Ronaldo said when asked about life at his former club. ”For me, it was one of the best years in my career when I was there in Manchester United. Everyone knows that it is a club that is still in my heart and I really, really miss. “But now my life is in Spain. I am enjoying playing there too. “Part of my life is there, but in the future we never know. I am really, really happy in the Spanish league.” Ronaldo has been linked with a potential return to Manchester United in recent months, but Real Madrid is determined to hold onto its star player. His contract expires in 2015. If he refuses to sign an extension this summer (as he reportedly did in December), Real Madrid would be forced to consider selling him. United, PSG and AS Monaco are believed to be willing to spend up to £85 million ($133.4 million) to sign the 28-year-old, while other rich clubs would also enter the race for his signature. Ronaldo told the Singapore kids that he is happy in Spain, but his actions suggest something else. He recently put his $7 million villa up for sale — a move which fueled speculation that he was ready to leave the Spanish capital. At this point the only certainties about Ronaldo’s transfer situation are those we already knew. He loves English soccer and Manchester United. He enjoys lighting up La Liga (Spain’s first division) but isn’t too keen on his current dwellings. Florentino Perez is desperate to re-sign Ronaldo before his value starts to decrease.  The Real Madrid president has gone so far as to tell the world that Ronaldo was close to signing a new contract. But then Ronaldo used Twitter to offer some clarity: “All the news about my renewal with Real Madrid are false,” he tweeted.
