Despite not defeating Portugal in Sunday’s 2014 FIFA World Cup match, the United States men’s national team did frustrate striker Cristiano Ronaldo all game long.
Portugal’s star striker nursed leg injuries last week, but was inserted into the starting lineup by coach Paul Bento. He was mostly a non-factor throughout the match, and could not put the ball into the back of the net, appearing exasperated after every futile attempt.
Though he was the assist man on Silvestre Varela’s tying goal, Ronaldo clearly wasn’t happy with the way things were going for his team for most of the contest.
Disappointed supporters of the American squad can take some consolation in the fact that Team USA made one of the top players in the world the angriest player on the field.
