Roma star Paulo Dybala reportedly has two interesting clauses in his current contract, one which makes him available at a low-cost fee, and another that means he could extend his stay at the Stadio Olimpico for another year.

According to reports from Corriere dello Sport and TMW, La Joya has a €12m release clause in his contract, which becomes active in July, and is available for teams in and outside of Italy.

Dybala’s current deal with the Giallorossi runs until the end of next season, 2024-25, although, if he decides to stay on for next season and then plays in at least 50% of the team’s matches, the contract will be automatically extended for another year.

Sunday’s reports indicate that the player’s agent will meet with representatives from the club in Italy at the end of the season, as it is still too early to comprehend some of the variables for next season.

It still has not been confirmed which European competition the club will play in for 2024-25 and what effect that will have on the budget, and they also still need to appoint a new sporting director as well, following the departure of Tiago Pinto earlier this year.

What is understood is that Dybala has a good working relationship with Roma and its CEO Lina Souloukou, and so, a renewal is not currently a pressing priority for the club, as per Sunday’s updates.

Meanwhile, Dybala is preparing to take centre-stage in Sunday’s headline Serie A fixture, between Roma and his former club Juventus, which kicks off at 19.45 BST.
