Everton defender James Tarkowski says the refereeing decisions again went against them in defeat at Manchester City.

Tarkowski is adamant they could've come away with a point on the day.

He said, "We got punished off what was a dubious corner for me. Dominic Calvert-Lewin was trying to head it one way and I think it was Ruben Dias trying to head it the other way and it goes where he heads it and they get the corner again.

Once again it's another decision that goes against us and there's nothing we can do about that.

Even on the corner, which I don't think is a corner, it ricochets off about three people and somehow ends up at his feet. That's how clinical he is, he gets one chance and he puts it away and we get punished but I thought we played really well and just a couple of minor details cost us."

He also said: I just don't think like there's many that have gone our way. You could sit back and think, 'that's gone in our favour or that other one has gone in our favour', but that hasn't been the case.

We go and speak to the ref and he's like, 'well, we'll go and have a look at it'. It's no good looking at it now is it? We need you to look at it on the pitch and get it right. It's all this, 'oh, we apologise for this, we apologise for that'.

That's no good, it doesn't give us a draw or a win. It does feel like a lot has gone against us more than for us.

That's the way this season has been isn't it so far. I can't stand here whinging and complaining though, we've just got to get on with it."
