Stephen Appiah has ruled out a return to the local league
Ex-Ghana captain Stephen Appiah has ruled out a return to the domestic league.
Appiah, 32, has been unattached since he completed a six-month deal with Serbian top-flight side FK Volvodina back in June.
The Juventus legend was on the verge of signing for Iranian giants Persepolis in November until coach Manuel Jose rejected signing the player at the eleventh hour.
Appiah enjoyed a terrific three-year spell with his boyhood club Hearts between 1995-97 and it was widely believed he could consider playing for one of the local side’s to revive his career.
But the former Udinese man has played down on the suggestions insisting he has no interest in playing domestic football.
“Playing in the local league. I don’t think so. But anyway you can never say never,” Appiah said
