Fabrizio Romano Admits ‘Brilliant’ Arsenal Forward Faces ‘Possible Exit in the Summer’ Under One Condition

It is no secret that Arsenal have been in the market for a top-quality striker. Several names have been linked with the Gunners including the likes of Ivan Toney, and Viktor Gyokeres, among others. Fabrizio Romano adds that if the club were to buy a new forward in the summer, it could force their current player Eddie Nketiah, to leave North London.

Romano states that West Ham are a club that have shown interest in the England international. The Hammers have lacked a true centre-forward for a while, relying on Jarrod Bowen for a big chunk of their goals.

Michail Antonio and Danny Ings are the two recognised strikers in their squad but both have failed to produce goals at a consistent level for the London-based club.

Signing Nketiah could be a major boost to David Moyes’ side and could help them challenge in the top half of the Premier League table on a more consistent basis. However, the Italian journalist adds that West Ham have not started any concrete talks for the forward and that the situation is still in its early stages.

As for Nketiah himself, a move away from Arsenal would greatly increase his playing time and allow him to showcase his talents regularly.

Englishman Still ‘100% Focused’ on Arsenal

The transfer insider reveals that the 24-year-old, who has been hailed as “brilliant” on numerous occasions, is still “100% focused” on helping the Gunners win some silverware this season. The former Leeds United loanee has scored five goals in the English first division this season which includes a hat-trick against Sheffield United.

Despite this, Eddie Nketiah has fallen down the pecking order in the club and finds himself behind Leandro Trossard, Gabriel Jesus, and Kai Havertz in the central forward slot.

His departure could depend heavily on whether Arteta’s side decide to spend big on a striker in the summer. For now, this remains a situation to keep an eye on, when the summer transfer window comes around.
