Celtic have enjoyed a fine Sunday after Ross County’s 3-2 win over Rangers at Dingwall. The Ibrox side trail Celtic by four points, albeit they have one game in hand. However, another bonus comes from the Bundesliga as Bayer Leverkusen won their first title.

Xabi Alonso’s side have been incredible and their 5-0 win over Werder Bremen sealed the title. One of the ex-Liverpool and Real Madrid man’s key players has been ex-Celt Jeremie Frimpong.

The Flying Dutchman has occupied a wingback role for Leverkusen – scoring 12 times and assisting on 11 occasions across 38 appearances. The performances of the Netherlands Internationalist have caught the eye of numerous Premier League suitors, who will likely mount an attempt to sign him this summer.

The success for Frimpong, who was picked up from the Man City U19s by Neil Lennon, serves as an example to young players looking to come to Celtic. The player broke through at Celtic, won trophies and was snatched up by a top five league team, where he will look to rack up a Treble.

Celtic, where Frimpong broke through, will be equally delighted with his success given his sell-on potential but also because they’ll be due a small fee in add-ons thanks to the Bundesliga win.

Frimpong will likely go for upwards of €40m this summer, meaning Celtic can expect a sizeable figure to return to the coffers. This news comes as Brendan Rodgers considers making Adam Idaho’s move permanent from Norwich City. It is said that the Canaries want £6m for the Irishman, which would represent a sizeable fee for Celtic to pay.
