Fiorentina have decided to enter the race for Giovanni Reyna, opening talks with Borussia Dortmund to explore a move in the final hours of the transfer window.

The Viola have been looking around for a new winger to add to Vincenzo Italiano’s squad, identifying a number of options including Genoa’s Albert Gudmundsson and Inter owned talent Valentin Carboni.

Reyna has 18 months left on his contract with Dortmund and seems destined to leave the club in the near future, having fallen down the hierarchies at the Bundesliga side. This season, he’s seen just 360 minutes of action across 14 matches, missing the early part of the season with a fibula injury.

As reported by Gianluca Di Marzio, Fiorentina have contacted Borussia Dortmund to sound out a move for Reyna, deciding to join the race with Nottingham Forest and Olympique Marseille. The Viola are hoping to complete a loan deal for the American winger.

The 21-year-old did well in the Bundesliga last season, scoring seven goals and providing two assists across 22 league games.
