Fofana opens up to Milan move: ‘One of the biggest in the world’

Monaco midfielder Youssouf Fofana has opened the door for Milan ahead of the summer transfer window, underlining how ‘everyone knows them’.

The 25-year-old initially attracted the attention of Juventus in the first half of this season, growing into an exciting and dynamic midfield option with Monaco, and he’s managed to maintain a high level across the season.

Milan have also been impressed with Fofana and have added the Monaco midfielder to their shortlist ahead of the summer, keen to find the right options to bolster Stefano Pioli’s squad as they look to close the gap to league leaders and rivals Inter.

Speaking to MilanNews, Fofana was asked about the recent reports discussing Milan’s interest in a summer deal.

“I think Milan are a truly huge club. Everyone knows Milan and their list of successes. But apart from the chatter in Italy, I remain focused on my mission to bring Monaco to the Champions League, which’ll be like a marathon.

“From now until the end of the season every match is like a final. And there are seven left to play. We have to ‘find’ points where we have to give everything in every match. When you play for Monaco, you know that the Champions League is the club’s natural goal.”

He highlighted how the Rossoneri have important pedigree on the international stage.

“As already said, Milan are one of the biggest clubs in the world with an important trophy cabinet, but my focus currently is to qualify for the Champions League with Monaco.”
