Forest suffer major Awoniyi blow

Nottingham Forest striker Taiwo Awoniyi has suffered a groin injury while on international duty with Nigeria.

The setback was suffered in the World Cup qualifier against Lesotho.

Awoniyi was released by the FA to travel back to England.

"Taiwo Awoniyi has left for his base due to pain in the groin and returns to England tonight after discussions between his club doctors and Super Eagles medical team," a statement from the Nigerian FA said on X.

Awoniyi has scored four goals and provided two assists for Steve Cooper's side so far this season.
