Elena Sadiku and Amy Gallacher spoke to Celtic TV and to The Celtic Star after Sunday’s 3-0 victory over Partick Thistle that takes Celtic FC Women a step closer to a first ever SWPL title. One down, two to go. COYGIG!

Here is what Elena and Amy had to say before heading to the Hydro for the Celtic FC POTY Awards where Amy won Players Player of the Year (and should have won the Player of the Year too!) and Elena met up with her childhood hero Henrik Larsson, Celtic’s King of Kings.

Elena said when she arrived that her target was to win the league and if she could do that then maybe she could be called Celtic’s Queen of Queens. She is now just two wins away from making that happen!

Watch the away match on Wednesday evening against Hearts on BBC Alba (kick-off 6.10pm) then get your tickets for Sunday at Paradise against Hibs where history could be made. A first ever title for Celtic and the first time the mens and womens team at a club have won the league in the same season!

Here’s Elena speaking to The Celtic Star at the Excelsior Stadium yesterday afternoon…

And here’s the what Elena had to say to Celtic TV: “We created enough chances to score goals. Fair win, we controlled the game, we dominated the game. After, I feel like we should’ve scored a little bit more but at the same time, we got the job done, we won the game, and we scored three so I’m pretty okay with that.

“I think we dominated everything. We press really well, we attack well. Sometimes, especially first half, I feel the pace was not as fast as I want us to play but like I said, overall, a good team performance, I’m very happy with the subs as well, they came in with energy, and that was also a difference from the overall so I’m very happy with the outcome and the result.

“I think we created enough, like I said. But the most important is that we kept pushing for what we wanted to do, and we did subs as well that helped us to bring that energy in and I think that’s something that we’re happy with. For me, it’s about we got the job done and now we need to focus on the next game.

“We need to recover well. We did many subs so hopefully we can be fresh for that game [vs Hearts on Wednesday]. Like I said, it’s about trying to push this game away and now only focus is on Hearts.”

The Celtic Star also spoke to Amy Gallacher after the 3-0 win yesterday afternoon. Here’s what Amy had to say…

Amy Gallacher also spoke to Celtic TV, saying: “It was a good performance. The important thing at this stage of the season is getting the three points and it was a big three points for us going into a big week, so I’m delighted.

“We need three wins out of three to win the league so that’s the main aim but obviously, we get this job done and we focus on Wednesday now.

“Credit to Partick Thistle, they made it difficult for us, especially in the first half. But we got the first goal then two goals after that so very happy.

“A good performance but the main thing three points. We got players on the pitch who haven’t been in recently so good all round.

“Recover tonight, then focus on Wednesday on Monday and hopefully we’ll get another three points.”

Meanwhile the former President of Albania hails two top Swedes, the King of Kings and come this Sunday (fingers crosses) the Queen of Queens. It could only happen at Celtic…
