In recent weeks, there have been signs of movement with the plans for AC Milan’s home, whether that be renovating San Siro or moving forward with the plans for San Donato. Today, a report has suggested that the Rossoneri have made their decision.

Gerry Cardinale has, in recent months, been consistent about the fact that he would like Milan to shift homes and evolve with the times, drawing comparisons to other elite sides with famous homes, who have moved with the times and have benefitted from it.

The message, though, has remained clear from everyone associated with the Rossoneri a preference for the San Donato project, but they have kept an open mind about the possibilities provided by renovating San Siro.

However, today, Il Giorno (via MilanNews) have reported that Milan have decided to move forward with the plans for a new stadium in the San Donato area of Milan, and Paolo Scaroni has sent a letter to the governor of Lombardy, Attilio Fontana, expressing his hopes that the process is quickly approved, for the benefit of all parties.

Given the setbacks attached to the renovation plans for San Siro, it is understandable why this decision has been made, especially considering how clear Cardinale has been that a new stadium is a top priority.
