Luka Jovic is expected to extend his contract with AC Milan and as such there will be a passing of the baton involving Olivier Giroud, according to a report.

Today’s edition of Tuttosport (via PianetaMilan), Jovic will extend his current contract which expires at the end of the season and he will not be put up for sale to make a capital gain. He will instead remain in the squad at the disposal of Stefano Pioli or possibly a new coach.

It seems that Giroud is strongly tempted to say goodbye to Milan at the end of June to accept the offer of Los Angeles FC, the team where his former national team captain Hugo Lloris plays.

There is, in fact, a verbal agreement already reached to move to California in July at the end of the European Championship as per L’Equipe.

Without Giroud, Tuttosport writes that Jovic should remain at Milan. The Serbian – who has right goals in the current season – has significantly improved his performance since the end of 2023 and Milan have a unilateral option in their favour to extend the contract for 12 months, from now until 2027.

For Milan, Jovic could be a excellent solution from the bench also next season. What remains to be seen is whether he would be a back-up to a new striker or if he could even be third choice if two strikers arrive.
