Tottenham Hotspur’s promising 18-year-old center-back Ashley Phillips, who sustained an injury while on England Under-19 duty in November, appears to be making significant strides toward recovery.

Phillips, sidelined since the international break, was spotted training alongside the first-team players in the gym, signaling a positive step in his rehabilitation process.

Earlier in December, Ange Postecoglou confirmed that Phillips would likely be out until the New Year.

But he seems to be closing in on a return. Tottenham posted a video of today’s training on their X account which showed the Spurs player working out in the gym, and the former Blackburn defender was spotted in the video as well.

The young defender arrived at Spurs from Blackburn Rovers in the summer for a reported fee of £2 million, immediately catching the eye of manager Ange, who opted against sending him out on loan.

Phillips had made a significant impact at Blackburn, making 14 senior appearances across all competitions at just 17 years old.

After the injury to Micky van de Ven and the suspension to Romero, it was reported that Ange was ready to give Phillips an opportunity with the first-team.

Unfortunately, the untimely injury curtailed his chances of immediate involvement, disrupting his progression with the senior squad.
