Italy won the European Under-19 Championship in 2023 and opened the new campaign with victory over Scotland, including Kevin Zeroli and Simone Pafundi goals.

The Azzurrini took the title last year for the second time, after the 2002-03 edition of the tournament.

They started strong this time too with a 3-1 win against Scotland in Lignano Sabbiadoro.

Milan talent Zeroli opened the scoring after the Pafundi effort had been parried into his path.

Former Udinese starlet Pafundi, who already earned his senior Italy debut, then added a second from distance.

David Watson pulled one back, but Pafundi was involved again with the assist for Marco Romano of Genoa.

Coach Bernardo Corradi will lead the Azzurrini out next against the Czech Republic in Udine on Saturday.
