Inter are mulling making a splash in the back and have Giorgio Scalvini as their preferred target to address the role. On the other hand, luring him will be extremely difficult as Atalanta have no intention to sell him this summer, Sky relays.

The prodigy has been linked to Napoli while they were looking for Kim Min-Jae’s replacement. La Dea reportedly slapped a €50M price tag on him, scaring the Italian champions away.

Inter have a decent budget after leaving the negotiations for Folarin Balogun and Lazar Samardzic and will make an attempt for Scalvini. However, there’s little chance Atalanta change their mind.

The possible fallbacks are Trevoh Chalobah and Takehiro Tomiyasu. They have keen on the Chelsea center-back for multiple windows. Instead, they probed Arsenal for a possible loan spell for the Japanese 20 days ago but were rebuffed. The outcome could be different if they lodged a bid to sign him outright.

Our Take on Inter and Scalvini

Nothing wrong with being ambitious, but the Bergamaschi tend to do their business early to have time to reinvest. Should they even consider his sale, they’d probably get larger offers from foreign powerhouses. Tomiyasu would be interesting, and they’d have a very modern backline with him. Despite the arrival of Marko Arnautovic, they should think of ways to further shore up their attack instead.
