Simone Inzaghi will sign a contract extension with Inter Milan until the end of June 2027 – it is a matter of “when” rather than “if.”

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

Yesterday, Inzaghi dropped a big hint regarding his intentions for the future.

The 48-year-old spoke in glowing terms of his last three years at Inter. And also made very clear that he wants to continue his journey for the Nerazzurri.

In order for Inzaghi to do so, a contract extension will be necessary.

Inzaghi is currently under contract with Inter until the end of next June. Naturally, the club will hardly want their coach heading into next season with a contract that runs out at the end of the campaign.

Matter Of “When” Not “If” Simone Inzaghi Extends Inter Contract

Inzaghi has signed one-year extensions in each of the past two years.

This is in keeping with a longstanding policy of Inter CEO Beppe Marotta. The veteran executive prefers to hand coaches one-year deals at the end of each season.

But it will be a little different this time around.

Inzaghi’s work this season has attracted the attention of some of Europe’s heavy-hitters.

A new long-term deal would be aimed at sending a clear message to other clubs in Europe that Inzaghi is not going anywhere for the foreseeable future.

Reports have indicated that Manchester United and Chelsea are among the Premier League clubs who would be keen on Inzaghi.

Meanwhile, the likes of Barcelona, Liverpool, and Bayern Munich will all be appointing new coaches in the summer.

Therefore, Inter want to tie Inzaghi down on a new deal until the end of June 2027.

That has been the basis of negotiations with the former Lazio coach.

Inzaghi will sign a new two-year contract, which will include a significant pay raise from the €7 million net per season that he currently earns including add-ons.
