Inter striker Romelu Lukaku has decided to take his full holiday entitlement after his international duty and rest ahead of the return to Serie A action in January.

As reported in yesterday’s newspaper edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Chelsea loanee had been considering returning from his break early so as to be involved in Inter’s winter training camp, or at least to return to physical sessions earlier than initially scheduled.

However, following Belgium’s disappointing World Cup campaign in Qatar, in which they were eliminated in the group stage, Lukaku and Inter have agreed that the striker would be better served taking his full allowance and ensuring he is mentally and physically recovered.

Lukaku has a month to prepare for Inter’s first Serie A game back after the break, when they host league leaders Napoli on 4 January, and will use the time off to focus after a poor display in Qatar.

Meanwhile, goalkeeper Andre Onana is set to return to the Appiano Gentile training centre on Tuesday after being sent home from Cameroon’s World Cup squad.
