Lazio and Juventus are in constant contact as they try to set up a new deal for left back Luca Pellegrini.

The 24-year-old Italian full back joined the Biancocelesti on a six-month loan back in January, adding some depth to Maurizio Sarri’s backline. He struggled for consistent playing time in Rome, seeing just 243 minutes of action across eight games.

Despite his lack of usage, Sarri is keen for Lazio to retain Pellegrini and negotiations have been ongoing with Juventus for a number of weeks now.

As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), Lazio are still discussing a new loan deal for Pellegrini with Juventus, which could include either a buy option or an obligation to buy clause.

He has already rejected an offer from Nice and is pushing to return to the Italian capital this summer. Juventus’ current idea is to extend his contract, spreading his currently salary and amortisation costs over several years.

This would lower the 24-year-old’s costs for both Lazio and the Bianconeri, who have already done a similar manoeuvre with Arthur Melo and Fiorentina.
