Juventus could reportedly rekindle their interest in one of their old targets to replace outgoing misfit Denis Zakaria. According to Tuttosport (via Tuttomercatoweb), Bayern Munich’s Ryan Gravenberch is a potential candidate to fill the Swiss midfielder’s shoes next season.

Zakaria is on the brink of ending his underwhelming year-and-a-half stint at Juventus. Newly-appointed Monaco boss Adi Hutter is ready to give his former associate a lifeline in Ligue 1. Negotiations have reached the final stages, with the 26-year-old expected to move to the Stade Louis II in the coming days.

Despite his marginal role at the Allianz Stadium, Zakaria’s departure will leave Juventus short of options in the engine room. Arthur Melo has left Turin to join Fiorentina on loan. Therefore, Massimiliano Allegri cannot afford to lose another midfielder without signing a replacement. Gravenberch could be his go-to option.

Juventus were keen on the Dutch prodigy last summer, only to see him leave Ajax for Bayern. But the move has not panned out well, as Gravenberch spent most of his maiden season in Munich as a second-string option. Tired of sitting on the sidelines, the 21-year-old could seek a way out.

With Euro 2024 waiting around the corner, Gravenberch knows the significance of regular first-team football. Since he’s unlikely to gain a prominent role at Bayern, he could fancy a move to Juventus. However, the Italians must be aware of the Bavarians’ hesitance to sell. They’ve already turned down Liverpool.
