Bologna have been in clear-cut form defensively in recent matchdays, with their 3-0 win over Empoli being their fourth consecutive clean sheet following three successive stalemates. One of their aces in the backline has been Victor Kristiansen, but Thiago Motta will have to do without his wingback as they prepare to visit Inter at the weekend.

Kristiansen has been sidelined for three weeks with an injury, a lesion, to his left rectus femoris – the muscular part of his thigh. He reportedly picked up the knock at the Dall’Ara last time out. This will force Motta to reinvent his defensive outlook in view of perhaps their toughest test of the season so far, as per TuttoBolognaweb.

Greek left-back Charamlampos Lykogiannis is expected to replace Kristiansen. Youngster Tommaso Corazza could also be given a chance, but it is highly unlikely given the stature of the match.

Despite their maiden loss of the season recently to Sassuolo, Inter have been in scintillating form over the course of their seven matches since the start of the season, scoring 19 goals and conceding just 3.

Our Take on Bologna’s backline woes

Without Stefan Posch and Jhon Lucumi as well in defense, Kristiansen’s absence will be hard to deal with. Dealing with either Marcus Thuram or Lautaro Martinez will be no walk in the park for the Bolognese defense.
