Club captain Jamaal Lascelles believes that only giving 110% will be enough to stay in the Newcastle United team.

Lascelles had been a long-term bench player under boss Eddie Howe over the past two years.

However, injuries to Sven Botman and other defenders thrust him back into the team recently.

On keeping his spot when everyone is fit, Lascelles told Chronicle Live: "Sven Botman and Fab Schar were doing fantastic.

But Sven picked up a knock and I've stepped in and it's about being ready and doing my best and I feel I've done that.

"In the last five games that's what I have tried to do it. I have fought for it (place in the team since takeover) and it hasn't been easy.

But I am a competitor and I will always give 110%, give my best. I think I have been ready when called upon. It's nice to play games and I need to stay consistent."
