Adam Marusic was forced off the pitch in Lazio’s 1-0 defeat to Bologna, suffering an ankle injury early into the second half.

The Biancocelesti failed to take advantage of their control in the clash at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara, allowing the Rossoblu to escape with a 1-0 victory after a second-half strike from Lewis Ferguson.

The defeat threatens to upset Lazio’s momentum ahead of one of the most important matches of the season so far, their return clash with Feyenoord in the Champions League. Maurizio Sarri’s side will then face Roma in the Derby della Capitale on November 12.

As reported by Sky Sports Italia (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), Marusic could be sidelined for a number of weeks after suffering the injury, looking pained as he limped off the pitch, leaving Lazio without a flexible fullback.

Sarri discussed the Montenegrin’s condition in a press conference after the match, admitting that the 31-year-old has suffered ‘a cut on his Achilles tendon’.

Marusic will undergo a round of tests in the coming days to determine his condition, but he could be sidelined until after the international break.
