Lazio are planning to soften the blow following the news of Felipe Anderson’s departure with a new, long-term contract extension for fellow attacker Mattia Zaccagni according to reports on Tuesday evening.

According to updates from TMW, Lazio and Zaccagni have reached an agreement in principle over a five-year contract extension, which will run until the summer of 2029.

Zaccagni’s current deal ties him to the Stadio Olimpico until the summer of 2025, which is now just over one year away.

Amidst recent uncertainty over Zaccagni’s long-term future with Lazio, there had been rumours of a potential move to either Juventus or Fiorentina

A renewal for Zaccagni will come as a positive for the Lazio directors, who were not able to convince Felipe Anderson into penning a new contract.

It had been reported that the Brazilian was in talks with Juventus over a possible free transfer in the summer, however, he has since announced that he will be returning to his home country to sign for Palmeiras upon the expiry of his current deal with the Biancocelesti at the end of the 2023-24 season.
