Lazio Slated to Reunite with Juventus-Owned Fullback

Lazio have come to terms with Juventus to bring back Luca Pellegrini, who headed back to Turin after spending six months in the Italian capital. The Biancocelesti turned down a €15M option to buy and will get him back for much more favorable terms, Alfredo Pedullà relays.

The fullback will transfer on a two-year loan with a conditioned obligation to buy. He’ll join permanently if the Biancocelesti qualify for any European competition in the next two seasons. They’ll pay €5/6M in that event.

Juventus and Lazio agreed on how to split his €3M wages in a meeting Wednesday. The Old Lady will contribute to 55/60 percent of it while he’s on loan. The defender will sign a four-year contract with an option. He’ll soon resume practicing under Maurizio Sarri.

The 24-year-old was linked to Nice, Milan, and Fulham earlier in the summer. However, the Biancocelesti, his boyhood club, kept lurking. He appeared seven times with them in the past season. Other than with Juventus, he starred for Eintracht Frankfurt, Genoa, Cagliari, and Roma throughout his career.

There were more intriguing options, but it’s hard to imagine there were cheaper ones, as the Bianconeri are basically giving him away. He was energetic but didn’t play a lot last season. The gaffer will be pleased he won’t have to start from scratch with a true newcomer.
