Lionel Messi reportedly ready to move on from FC Barcelona

Lionel Messi has reportedly stalled all contract negotiations with FC Barcelona and this doesn't appear to be a bargaining tactic, as many believe that the superstar striker may be ready to move on from the team.

Messi has been a member of FC Barcelona since 2003 but when his contract is up in 2021, his relationship with the club may become a thing of the past. Why? The 33-year-old is reportedly upset because he feels that the club has thrown him under the bus in too many instances, including leaking to the media that he played a role in the firing of coach Ernesto Valverde.

While Messi is only a few days removed from scoring his 700th goal, Barcelona looks like a club that has seen better days. They currently sit four points behind Real Madrid in the title standings and the team's struggles are not lost on Messi. Back in February, Messi publicly said that the current team was not good enough to win the Champion's League. Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane spoke about Messi possibly leaving the rival club.

"I don't know what will happen but we hope not because he is in this league and we want the best in this league," Zidane said.

The idea of a star player leaving their club for greener grass elsewhere is hardly new, just look at Ronaldo ditching Real Madrid to join Juventus. However, Messi leaving Barcelona feels different, as he has spent his entire career with the club. Sadly, it's sounding like the relationship is heading towards an end.
