Now Champions League football is as good as out of reach, Liverpool have begun to look at next season, in the hope to fix what has been broken and get back where they belong.

Last season, the Reds were as close as anyone has ever been to a quadruple, however, midfield issues were missed and unfortunately, glossed over.

The club had an opportunity to address those issues in the summer window and it seemed as if they were doing just that after attempts to bring in Aurelien Tchouameni and Jude Bellingham, both of which failed respectively for different reasons.

It has left Jurgen Klopp and his recruitment staff with no option but to go all out this upcoming window to rebuild a declining midfield and they have taken no time to already get that rebuild underway.

Thuram and Mac Allister?

Recent reports have claimed that Brighton’s Alexis Mac Allister is close to being a done deal and will become Liverpool’s first transfer this summer. However, according to transfer journalist Jacque Talbot, they ain’t stopping there.

Via Transfermarkt, Talbot reports that the Reds are keen on signing OGC Nice midfielder Khephren Thuram. Son of legendary French defender Lilian Thuram and brother of Borussia Monchengladbach forward Marcus Thuram, the 22-year-old has impressed many clubs around Europe over the last couple of years.

Jurgen Klopp’s men lack serious creativity in the middle of the park and alongside Mac Allister, Thuram would provide just that. A player then can drive through an opposition side but also puts in the work defensively. A proper Jurgen Klopp-type player.

It is quoted that the midfielder is worth €60m but according to this report, Nice have stated that a potential fee is dependent on how many proposals they receive and what clubs are offering.

Is Thuram the perfect addition alongside Mac Allister to be part of the midfield rebuild?
