Paris Saint-Germain are abuzz about Xavi Simons, who’s quickly becoming one of football’s brightest young talents. However, reports suggest that Simons will not return to PSG this summer.

After PSG crashed out in the UEFA Champions League, supporters eagerly looked forward to Simons returning. Nonetheless, there was a cold shower on that reality with a report from RMC Sport that the player lacks the motivation to continue in the French capital.

This piece of news is ideal for clubs like Arsenal and FC Barcelona who have been linked to the young standout. Manager Luis Enrique spoke to reporters on Saturday, and one of the questions the Spanish tactician answered was about Simons’ future. He did his best to sidestep the ongoing rumors.

“I have a rule not to talk about players who are not at the club at the moment, who are elsewhere,” Enrique said (h/t Culture PSG). This is a player on loan who I already commented on at the time. I have nothing new to say at the moment.

A report from Le10Sport revealed that PSG are closely monitoring Simons’ situation and patiently waiting for the end of the 2023-2024 season. Afterward, they’ll sit down with the Dutchman, hear him out, and decide on his future.

Meanwhile, Enrique and sporting advisor Luis Campos have clearly expressed to Simons that he’s a priority, and they’re fully banking on him for the next season.
