Tottenham suffered their first defeat of the season at the hands of Chelsea last night.

The derby was a chaotic one with Spurs taking the lead through Kulusevski before Son putting the ball in the net minutes later only for the goal to be disallowed.

The game changed when Cristian Romero was sent off for catching Enzo on the follow through followinga a rash challenge iniside the box.

Chelsea equalised from the spot and had a goal disallowed moments later. And just before half-time James Maddison and Micky van de Ven were forced off with injuries making it even more difficult for Spurs.

And to make things worse, Spurs were reduced to 9 men after Udogie was shown a second yellow card in the 55th minute.

Despite Vicario’s heroic performances, Chelsea did eventually break the Spurs defense with Nicolas Jackson scoring a hat-trick as they beat Spurs 4-1.

The biggest negative from the game for Ange was the injuries to two of Tottenham’s best players: Maddison and Micky van de Ven.

And as per PA Sports reporter George Sessions, VDV was seen limping through on crutches and could be out for the foreseeable future.

He shared the update:

No surprise but Micky van de Ven limps through the mixed zone on crutches. The loss of VDV for the foreseeable future coupled with Romero’s incoming three-match ban a lasting blow from tonight

The extent of the defender’s injury is still not known but his absence will be a huge miss for Spurs.

Romero is set to miss out the next three games as well. It is interesting to see how Ange copes with Spurs seriously lacking squad depth.
