Man Utd attacker Antony: I was defending our fans

Manchester United forward Antony temporarily hit back regarding his controversial FA Cup semi-final celebration.

The Brazilian came in for a lot of stick from supporters and the media after he cupped his ears at Coventry City players following United's penalty shootout win.

Antony, who came on when the score was 3-0 to United, saw the game leveled up at 3-3 before United won out.

He wrote on X, but has since deleted the post: "Coventry proved why they reached the semi-final.

"We seeked this spot in the final for our fans and we achieved.

"The way our fans were treated by their players was not nice and I, in the heat of the moment, I've reacted to the provocations in a natural defense of my club!"
