Argentina Under 20 coach Javier Mascherano will reportedly travel to England next week for crunch talks over Alejandro Garnacho.

The 18-year-old has been called up to play for Argentina, and Manchester United are resistant to release him for the Under 20’s World Cup.

Garnacho has been side-lined since leaving Old Trafford in crutches following their 1-1 draw with Southampton last month.

United are reportedly reluctant to release the winger as they see him as an integral part of the squad for their remaining fixtures of the season.

The Red Devils were soundly beaten in their quarter final match against Sevilla on Thursday night, and Ten Hag is keen on keeping the Argentine for their remaining Premier League fixtures and FA Cup bid.

And according to the Telegraph’s James Ducker, Mascherano will fly to Manchester on Monday to personally discuss the release of Garnacho.

According to FIFA rules, clubs are obliged to release registered players to represent teams of their eligible countries, however this is not mandatory outside of specified international windows.

Should Garnacho be called up to the U20 World Cup, which begins on May 20th, he would miss their final two matches against Bournemouth and Fulham, and also the FA Cup final assuming they defeat Brighton on Sunday.
