Marc Guiu announced himself as Barcelona's latest teenage starlet by scoring in a 1-0 win over Athletic Bilbao.

The 17-year-old was handed his Barca debut by manager Xavi Hernandez as a substitute 79 minutes into Sunday's game at Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys.

His first touch as a La Liga player arrived 31 seconds later when he controlled a through pass from Joao Felix.

Guiu's second touch was then a shot that beat Bilbao keeper Unai Simon and the ball entered the goal just 34 seconds after he had entered the field.

That goal made Guiu the youngest player to score in La Liga on his Barcelona debut in the 21st century.

Guiu was pounced upon by his delighted teammates amid wild on-field celebrations.

His mother and sister were overcome with emotion and were seen crying in the stands, while Guiu's father beamed with pride as he stood and applauded his son.

Injured Barcelona stars Frenkie de Jong and Robert Lewandowski were also seen clapping among the crowd.

Barca's win on Sunday saw the reigning champions move up to third place in the league table.

Xavi's side now sit just one point behind leaders Real Madrid.
