Adam Marusic has been handed a fine and a one-match ban after being shown a red card in Lazio’s Derby della Capitale win over Roma.

Maurizio Sarri’s side secured a vital 1-0 win over the Giallorossi in a fiery derby, thanks to an impressive goal by winger Mattia Zaccagni. 31 fouls were committed over the 90 minutes and Roger Ibanez was shown a red card after 32 minutes, a sign of the on-pitch tension.

Marusic was sent off after the full time whistle following a small scuffle with a handful of Roma players. The same incident also saw Bryan Cristante get sent off.

As announced by the Serie A sporting judge (via LazioNews24), Marusic has been given a one-match ban and a €15,000 fine following his actions at the end of the Derby della Capitale.

The judge considered the Montenegrin full back to have shown a ‘seriously provocative and vulgar attitude’ towards some Giallorossi players following the victory.

Marusic will miss out on Lazio’s upcoming Serie A clash with Monza, forcing Sarri to tinker with his backline a little.
