Liverpool are set for a timely squad boost as Alisson Becker, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Diogo Jota edge closer to making their returns from injury. The Reds could have their key injured stars back sooner than initially expected.

Liverpool Welcome Back Key Players From Injury

Two Trophies on the Line

Liverpool have been going neck and neck with Arsenal and Manchester City at the top of the Premier League for the past few months. A 2-2 draw with Manchester United saw the Reds slip to second place on the table. But with seven games remaining, they still have a chance to reclaim their spot.

The Premier League title race has remained central to Liverpool’s trophy hunt in their final season under Jurgen Klopp. But the Reds are also competing in the Europa League, where they will host Atalanta in the quarter-finals this Thursday.

With two trophies to fight for, the Reds desperately need their key players back from injury. It now seems that Klopp will have a bigger squad at his disposal for the rest of the campaign.

A Timely Boost for Liverpool

On Tuesday, Liverpool published footage of a training session ahead of their Europa League clash against Atalanta. Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, and Jota were all seen participating in team training.

According to the Liverpool Echo, all three players participated in full training. Stefan Bajcetic is also reported to be back in first-team training after working on his fitness with the U21 squad for the past week.

Last week, Klopp said the four injured players were planned to participate in “parts of team training”. It is still unclear whether the German boss will decide to add anyone from the group to his squad for the upcoming Premier League game against Crystal Palace. However, the Reds will likely have newly returned players in the second leg of their Europa League tie against Atalanta next week.

Long-Term Absentees

Only three Liverpool stars will remain on the sidelines with Alisson, Jota, Alexander-Arnold, and Bajcetic returning to the squad.

Thiago Alcantara is still struggling from a muscle issue that he suffered in early February. According to Relevo, the midfielder has returned to Spain after being allowed by the club to continue his recovery abroad.

Joel Matip is also expected to miss the rest of the season after picking up an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury against Fulham in early December.

Ben Doak has stayed out of action since picking up a knee injury while representing Liverpool’s U21 side in January. The teenager has a chance to recover in time for the final games of the campaign.
